FAQs

Why do I need a Rocker Plate?
Rocker Plates have been around for a couple of years now and have proven to reduce stresses all round. Feedback confirms that you are able to train harder for longer with a Rocker Plate over a traditional set-up.

But I might upgrade my turbo trainer in the future, what happens then?
The Realplate is completely upgradeable so when you order, select your current trainer and if you upgrade in the future just let us know and we'll send the fittings for your new trainer completely free of charge.

This is just a new fangled flash in the pan, isn't it?
We don't think so. TurboRocks has been running for just over two years now and whilst Rocker Plates are still relatively unheard of, we at TurboRocks have seen a massive 600% increase in sales in the past 6 Months. We also now have a number of Pro & Amateur race teams using the Realplate including Marco Marcato of Team UAE Emirates. The Realplate will be the norm in the future as we all look for ways to make indoor training enjoyable.

Is it durable, will it last?
The Realplate is extremely durable, made of a high quality birchwood ply and coated in waterproof paint all over with the top board being coated in a rubberised water & sweat resistant textured coating.

Can I use my Realplate with Zwift & Fulgaz etc?
We get asked this a lot and the answer is Yes. Putting your set-up on a Realplate is no different other than it being more comfortable, so you can perform stronger for longer.

What are the dimension of the Realplate?
Our Realplate's are designed to accept almost every turbo trainer and fitness bike out there so they're very sturdy items. The overall length is 175cm, the width is 93cm and the overall height is 8.5cm. The Realplate weighs in at 22KG.

Is there much setting up to do once its delivered?
No, our Realplates come completely assembled. All you need to do is fix your trainer to the Realplate, adjust the air in the bladders and go go go.

Why do the Turbo Trainers look offset on the Realplate?
This is because trainers usually have a heavy flywheel placed to the right of the trainer. When this is fixed to the Realplate the whole unit will want to lean right towards that flywheel. As a result trainers will generally sit to the right, this then brings the centre of the bottom bracket to the centre line of the Realplate which is perfect.

How much air do i put into the air bladders?
This is up to you, but not as much as you think! Its a different feel to what your used to so you might be tempted to pump up the pressure to make it feel more rigid but please don't do this. You want a lovely relaxed and smooth feel so we suggest just add a little pressure at a time until you feel "dialled in". You'll know when your there and you will never look back!

Will my turbo trainer work?
The Realplate has been tested using almost every trainer and bike out there including XL frame sizes but to be sure, just pop over to our "Will my turbo trainer work?" section to find out. If yours isn't there, please contact us for advice.

I heard there's a different technique to riding on a rocker plate, is that right?
You do generate different force direction when training on a rocker plate but the feel is still natural. When on the road, the bike leans to the right when your left leg extends and vice versa. This is the opposite on a Rocker Plate but almost everyone, including our pro riders gets used to it and enjoy the feel. Importantly, as a result of using the Realplate, users tell us that they are able to generate higher wattage over a longer period of time.

Are these made in China?
No, not there's anything particularly wrong with that but our products are completely manufactured here in beautiful Somerset in the UK. We source our birch plywood locally and a local engineering company CNC machines them for us. They are then delivered to our workshop where we paint and assemble them before shipping all over the world.

Delivery to some parts of the world is expensive, why is that?
As you may already have read, the Realplate is a substantial unit, it has to be to withstand the high forces that turbo training delivers. We also invest heavily in the packaging. We do subsidise some of the shipping costs but never add additional profit! We are always looking to reduce shipping costs but if you are able to arrange shipping cheaper than we publish, please let us know and we'll work with you.

There's someone selling cheap knock off Rocker Plates on Ebay and a link to your video on YouTube. Is that you?
Definitely not. Their set up is of a much lower quality and I have asked them to remove the video link several times. Please do not confuse this or other sellers with the super high quality of the Realplate+ from TurboRocks.

So, once I've bought from you that it, is it?
Absolutely not. One of our biggest attributes here at TurboRocks (apart from the Realplate itself!), is our ongoing customer service. Please take a look at our dozens of reviews and on social media. One common theme from all of our customers is the appreciation for the great support we offer. This can be pre or post purchase and even includes the odd freebie now and again!
